River Plate Draws With Platense In Apertura Tournament 2025

River Plate and Platense drew 1-1 at the start of the Apertura Tournament 2025. Ignacio Vázquez opened the scoring, but Matías Rojas equalized before the end of the match.

The River Plate team drew 1-1 with Platense as visitors in the framework of the first matchday of Zone B of the 2025 Apertura Tournament of the Professional League. The match took place at the Ciudad de Vicente López stadium.

In a game where defender Ignacio Vázquez scored Platense's goal at the 12-minute mark, Paraguayan Matías Rojas was able to equalize for River at 41 minutes into the second half. However, despite the tie on the scoreboard, the team led by Marcelo Gallardo showed concern for not leaving a good impression on the night in Vicente López.

Regarding the development of the match, after a cross to the penalty spot, River's goalkeeper, Juan Pablo Cozzani, attempted to clear the ball with his fists but it stayed loose for the Platense defender to head in a goal. On the other hand, from a free kick on the right, the Platense defender headed the ball towards goalkeeper Franco Armani, who, in trying to control it, ended up putting it into his own net.

In the second half, River sought the equalizer but faced a solid defense from Platense, highlighted by the performances of Vázquez and Saborido. Nevertheless, the Núñez team managed to tie the scoreboard with Rojas' goal at 41 minutes.

In the next match, River Plate will host Instituto de Córdoba at the Monumental stadium. On the other hand, Platense, under the leadership of the Orsi-Gómez duo, began the season with a bittersweet taste by letting the victory slip away. Platense's next match will be against Vélez at the José Amalfitani stadium.

The opening goal arrived at the 12-minute mark by Vázquez after both teams measured each other in the first 10 minutes of the match.
